Comparison of OnePlus 11, OnePlus 13, and OnePlus 15 smartphones highlighting upgrade options

If you’re using a OnePlus 11 and considering an upgrade, understanding the differences between the OnePlus 11, OnePlus 13, and OnePlus 15 is essential to decide which model fits your needs.

OnePlus phone upgrade: What changed from 11 to 15?

OnePlus built the OnePlus 11 as a flagship phone focused on speed, fast charging, clean Android software, and solid cameras without premium pricing. Launched in January 2023, it featured a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED 120Hz display, 5,000mAh battery, and 100W charging. The camera system included Hasselblad tuning with a 50MP main sensor, 32MP telephoto, and 48MP ultrawide. However, it lacked wireless charging and had only an IP64 splash resistance rating.

The OnePlus 13, arriving globally in early 2025, addressed many of these shortcomings. It upgraded to a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a larger 6,000mAh battery with silicon-carbon technology, and added 50W wireless charging. The display improved to a 6.82-inch QHD+ AMOLED with LTPO 4.1 technology and 4,500 nits peak brightness, and the phone gained an IP68/69 water resistance rating. Camera performance improved with a fifth-generation Hasselblad system featuring three 50MP sensors and a 3x optical zoom periscope lens. Then came the OnePlus 15 in late 2025, which shifted focus toward gaming. It dropped Hasselblad tuning in favor of OnePlus’s own DetailMax Engine and replaced the circular camera housing with a rectangular bump. While the screen’s refresh rate increased to 165Hz, the resolution dropped to 1.5K to accommodate this. The battery grew to 7,300mAh with 120W fast charging. Gaming features were enhanced with a UAV-grade gyroscope, dedicated touch processing chip, improved cooling, and a gaming Wi-Fi chip to reduce latency.

OnePlus 11 features still relevant in 2026

Despite being two generations old, the OnePlus 11 remains a reliable daily driver with smooth performance and software support up to Android 16. Its main drawbacks today are the lack of wireless charging and weaker water resistance compared to newer models. OnePlus 13 improvements worth considering

The OnePlus 13 offers a more complete flagship experience. Its stronger water resistance, wireless charging, brighter and more efficient display, faster fingerprint unlocking, and improved cameras make it a balanced upgrade. Launched at $899, it moved OnePlus into direct competition with premium flagships but still undercut top-tier prices.

OnePlus 15 designed for gamers

The OnePlus 15 targets mobile gamers with its 165Hz refresh rate (available in supported games), massive battery, enhanced cooling, and gaming-specific hardware. While it sacrifices camera sensor size, display resolution, and Hasselblad tuning, it delivers superior battery life and responsiveness for gaming enthusiasts. It runs OxygenOS 16 on Android 16 with AI tools and promises extended software updates.

Which OnePlus phone upgrade makes sense?

  • From OnePlus 11 to OnePlus 13: This is the most straightforward upgrade. You get meaningful improvements in cameras, battery life, display quality, and hardware features like wireless charging and improved water resistance.
  • From OnePlus 11 to OnePlus 15: Upgrade if gaming and battery life are your priorities. The OnePlus 15 enhances gaming controls and endurance but compromises camera and display sharpness.
  • From OnePlus 13 to OnePlus 15: This upgrade is less clear-cut. While the OnePlus 15 offers better battery and gaming features, it lowers camera quality and display resolution. Unless gaming is your top priority, waiting for the next generation might be wiser.

Choosing whether to upgrade depends on your use case. The OnePlus 13 stands out as a balanced flagship, while the OnePlus 15 targets gamers and heavy users who value battery and responsiveness over camera excellence.
