Finding affordable upgrades for your PlayStation setup can be tricky, especially when console prices stay firm. Sony’s upcoming Days of Play 2026 event seems to focus on easing the cost of accessories and games, but PS5 console discounts appear absent this year.
- DualSense controllers drop to around €54.99, saving €20
- PSVR 2 headset discounted by €100 to €349.99
- Premium Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore headsets reduced by at least €20
- No PS5 console price cuts expected after recent increases
Accessory Discounts Target Practical Needs
The Days of Play sale, running from May 27 to June 10, including the June 2 State of Play event, centers on hardware beyond the console itself. Standard DualSense controllers should be available for about €54.99, a €20 discount. Meanwhile, the DualSense Edge, Sony’s higher-end controller, sees a price drop to €189.99.
Audio gear like the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore headsets and earbuds will also be more affordable with at least €20 off. Notably, Sony plans to lower the PSVR 2 virtual reality headset’s price to €349.99 from €449.99, which may help address past concerns about VR support.
The Bigger Question Is PS5 Console Pricing
Unlike previous events where PS5 consoles had promotional pricing, this year’s leak reveals no discounts for the base or Pro models. After recent price hikes, Sony might be reluctant to reduce prices so soon. This makes more sense if the company aims to maintain margins despite slower hardware sales.
PlayStation Plus subscription plans are also expected to remain mostly unchanged, with only a slight price increase in some regions. Subscribers can, however, enjoy a 5% discount on purchases from the PlayStation Direct store, adding some value for regular buyers.
Price Context and Availability
These prices are based on European leaks but often translate similarly to North American and other markets. The trade-off is clear: while gamers can upgrade controllers, headsets, and pick up new games at lower prices, those looking for a PS5 console deal may need to wait for future events.
Consider it if your current setup could use better accessories or if you want to try PSVR 2 at a reduced price. Skip it if your priority is buying a more affordable PS5 console, as no discounts are expected during this event.
