Seiko has elevated its Astron GPS solar watch lineup with three new models featuring innovative upgrades designed for comfort and functionality. The new Seiko Astron GPS solar watches introduce a user-friendly Quick-Change band system and an advanced Caliber 5X63 movement that enhances dual-time tracking and chronograph performance.
Seiko Astron GPS solar watches get a Quick-Change band system
The latest Astron models—HAB001 Nebula Grey, HAB002 Astral Onyx, and HAB003 Celestial Gold—all incorporate a new Quick-Change strap mechanism. This system allows wearers to easily remove or swap bands with the push of a button, streamlining customization without needing tools. This feature marks a notable improvement in convenience for users who want to change their watch’s look on the go.
Distinct styles meet a shared design
While each model sports distinct aesthetics, the watches share core design elements. All feature a 43.3mm dial adorned with a textured pattern of interlocking triangles and a super hard coated titanium case with a screw-back. The new two-piece octagonal titanium bezel lowers the center of gravity, enhancing comfort during extended wear. Related coverage: Garmin Forerunner 70 and 170: Balanced GPS Watches for.
- HAB001 Nebula Grey: Icy blue dial with a full titanium bracelet for a sleek, minimalist appearance.
- HAB002 Astral Onyx: Charcoal-toned finish offering a stealthy, refined look.
- HAB003 Celestial Gold: Black rubber strap and gold accents add a sportier and more eye-catching style.
Caliber 5X63: A leap forward in GPS solar watch technology
At the heart of these new watches is Seiko’s in-house Caliber 5X63 movement, the brand’s highest performing GPS solar module to date. It integrates dual-time tracking with a 1/20-second chronograph capable of measuring up to 24 hours—doubling the chronograph duration found in previous Caliber 5X83 models.
Thanks to GPS satellite synchronization, the watches automatically adjust to your current time zone without manual input. Additional features include a six-month battery life on a full solar charge, extendable to two years in power-save mode, an in-flight mode, and a perpetual calendar valid through 2100.
Availability and pricing
Seiko plans to release these upgraded Astron GPS solar watches starting in June across markets including the US, Japan, Australia, the UK, and Europe. Pricing details have been announced but were not included in this summary.
