Thunderobot has launched its AI Mini Workstation in China, a compact AMD mini PC designed for demanding AI and heavy computing tasks. The device draws inspiration from the classic Steam Machine form factor and supports up to 96GB of VRAM, making it a standout in the mini PC market.
AMD Mini PC with High VRAM Capacity
The Thunderobot AI Mini Workstation is powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU, which includes the RDNA 3.5 Radeon 8060S integrated GPU. According to benchmarks, this iGPU offers performance close to an Nvidia RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, positioning it well for AI workloads.
Uniquely, users can allocate up to 96GB of the system’s total 128GB LPDDR5X RAM as VRAM for the Radeon 8060S, enabling heavy AI processing capabilities rarely seen in integrated GPUs. Related coverage: Vivo X500 Series Display Sizes and Camera Features Revealed.
Robust Cooling and Power Delivery
To handle the thermal demands, Thunderobot equipped the mini PC with a custom liquid cooling system featuring a full-coverage cold plate that efficiently cools the Ryzen APU and core components under intensive use.
The cooling system works alongside a 14-phase power supply, allowing the system to deliver up to 176 watts of power. This combination ensures stable performance during extended AI or computational tasks.
Compact Design and Extensive Connectivity
The mini PC adopts a cubic design measuring 199x199x199mm, reminiscent of Steam Machines. Despite its small size, it includes a wide range of ports for versatile connectivity:
- 2x USB4
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 3x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2x USB 3.2 Type-A
- 1x USB 3.2 Type-C
- 1x 10G Ethernet
- 1x 2.5G Ethernet
- 2x 3.5mm audio jacks
Wireless connectivity includes the latest WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 standards, supporting fast and reliable network connections.
Availability and Market Outlook
The Thunderobot AI Mini Workstation is currently available for purchase in China with a starting price of approximately $3,975 USD. Given Thunderobot’s limited global presence, the mini PC is unlikely to launch internationally soon.
Consumers interested in similar configurations might consider alternatives such as the GMKtec EVO-X2, which is available on platforms like Amazon.
