GameSir has rolled out yet another special edition of its G7 Pro 8K PC controller, this time branded as the Royal2 Edition. It’s a fresh paint job on an existing model, riding on the name of a four-time Halo World Champion. The catch is simple: beyond aesthetics, this controller is no different than the Aimlabs Edition you can already buy for the same $89.99.
- GameSir G7 Pro 8K PC Royal2 Edition is a cosmetic refresh with a starry black design and gold signature.
- Features include 8000Hz polling rate, second-gen Mag-Res TMR sticks, and four remappable macro buttons.
- Comes with two extra D-Pads, a charging dock with crown logo, and compatible only with PC.
- Price is $89.99, same as the Aimlabs Edition without the special branding.
Flagship Specs, Mostly Familiar Territory
Based on the spec sheet, the G7 Pro 8K PC Royal2 Edition keeps the hardware intact. The second-generation GameSir Mag-Res TMR sticks promise precise control, and the controller supports an 8000Hz polling rate—both wired and wireless. On paper, that polling rate sounds great, but real-world gains over a solid 1000Hz or 2000Hz are minimal, especially on PC. Expect smooth performance for daily tasks, but don’t hold your breath for competitive advantages.
The dual-mode trigger stops and six-axis motion control add some versatility. Four remappable macro buttons are a nice touch for gamers who want shortcuts, but these features are hardly unique in this price segment. The controller also includes a 3.5mm audio jack and dual asymmetric rumble motors, ticking the boxes for comfort and immersion.
Looks Like Royalty, Charges Like Regular
The Royal2 Edition’s black finish flecked with white specs aims to mimic a star-studded sky. The black glassy ABXY buttons and golden signature on the right grip add a bit of personality. The charging dock features a crown emblem—purely decorative, but fitting for the branding. Aside from these cosmetic tweaks, there’s nothing new here.
The 1200mAh battery is standard fare. GameSir hasn’t made bold claims about battery life, which is probably wise. Real-world usage, especially with wireless mode and any kind of vibration or 5G interference around, will likely drain the battery faster than the marketing implies.
The Package: More Extras, Same Price
The Royal2 Edition comes with a handful of extras: two additional D-Pads, a 2.4GHz wireless dongle, a Type-C cable, and a cable retainer. While these add some value, they’re standard inclusions in many controllers at this price point. And compatibility remains PC-only—no console support here.
GizmoIndo’s Take
GameSir’s Royal2 Edition is a textbook example of branding over innovation. This controller offers no hardware upgrades over the existing G7 Pro 8K PC Aimlabs Edition. If you’re a fan of Royal2 or want the aesthetic, fine—go for it. Otherwise, you’re paying $89.99 for a controller that’s already available with the same specs and features. For gamers who care about performance and features rather than looks, this release is a non-event. The crowded PC controller market demands more than a paint job to stand out—and GameSir hasn’t delivered that here.
