Lenovo has officially introduced the ThinkStation P4, a powerful desktop workstation designed for demanding professional use. At its core, the ThinkStation P4 supports up to 256 GB of DDR5 RAM running at an impressive 6,400 MT/s, distributed across four DIMM slots. This memory capacity makes it well-suited for intensive tasks such as 3D rendering, data analysis, and video editing.

Lenovo ThinkStation P4: High-End Hardware and Expandability

The ThinkStation P4 comes in a compact 30-litre chassis that houses robust components. Storage options are extensive, with up to 48 TB of total capacity available across three M.2 NVMe slots and three 3.5-inch drive bays, allowing for a mix of high-speed SSDs and large-capacity HDDs.

Powering the system are optional power supplies rated at 500 W, 750 W, and 1,100 W, supporting high-performance configurations. Of particular note is the availability of the Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Workstation Edition and Max-Q Workstation GPUs, offering up to 96 GB of VRAM. These GPUs cater to professionals requiring advanced graphics processing, AI workloads, and complex simulations. Related coverage: AMD Launches Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D Processor with 3D V-Cache.

Processor and Platform Details

Lenovo equips the ThinkStation P4 with an AMD PRO 675 chipset motherboard, optimized for workstation reliability and security. This platform supports the Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D processor, a high-end CPU designed for professional applications. The system is compatible out of the box with Windows 11 Pro, Ubuntu Linux, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, providing flexibility for various enterprise environments.

Availability and Pricing Expectations

Lenovo plans to launch the ThinkStation P4 in June 2026. Pricing details have not been disclosed yet, but considering the premium components—especially the Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 GPU, which retails separately for around $9,350 as of now—the desktop is expected to command a high price point.

The ThinkStation P4 represents Lenovo’s return to the ThinkStation series with a workstation that balances extreme performance and expandability in a relatively compact form factor.
