Samsung Galaxy smartphones now offer a new way to block ads in push notifications through an update to their Device Care app. The latest version, 13.8.80.7, introduces a feature called “Intelligent Blocking” designed to identify and limit advertising push notifications that users often find intrusive.
How Intelligent Blocking Works on Samsung Galaxy Smartphones
The Intelligent Blocking feature analyzes incoming push notifications on Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 8.5 to determine if they are advertisements. When an app sends frequent notifications deemed to be ads, the system automatically places the app into “deep sleep” mode. This effectively stops the app from sending further push notifications, reducing unwanted interruptions for users.
Samsung points out that the classification between promotional and useful notifications may not always be perfect. Users can manually review and unblock any app if its notifications are mistakenly blocked, ensuring important alerts are not missed. This control is accessible via the settings in the Samsung Device Care app. Related coverage: Google Expands Gemini Intelligence AI Across Android Devices.
Availability on One UI 8.5 and Galaxy S26 Devices
This ad-blocking function is initially available for Samsung Galaxy smartphones equipped with One UI 8.5, including the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra models. While the updated Device Care app has not yet reached the official Samsung Galaxy Store or Google Play Store, it can already be sideloaded from trusted third-party platforms such as APKMirror.
The official rollout to all compatible devices is expected to take several weeks, as Samsung gradually releases the update through standard channels.
More Than Just Notification Control
The Samsung Device Care app has long been a tool to improve smartphone performance by identifying apps that use excessive power or memory and helping conserve battery life. The addition of Intelligent Blocking adds a layer of user convenience by addressing one of the most common smartphone annoyances: unwanted ad push notifications.
This update aligns with growing user demand for better notification management and enhanced control over app behaviors on mobile devices.
