The HyperOS 4 beta program has just begun and targets primarily the latest high-end Xiaomi smartphones and tablets within the Chinese market. Eligible devices include the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17, Redmi K90 Pro Max, Redmi K90 Pro Max Champion Edition, and Redmi K90.

To join the beta, users must apply through the Xiaomi Community app. If selected, they can expect to receive the update within a few days. This controlled rollout allows Xiaomi to gather user feedback and iron out any bugs before a wider release.

Upcoming Beta Waves and Global Availability

Xiaomi has also announced plans for subsequent beta update waves. The second batch is scheduled to start on August 27, followed by a third batch beginning September 17. This phased approach ensures more users get early access while maintaining stability.

While the beta program is currently China-exclusive, Xiaomi typically follows with a global beta rollout within two to three weeks after the initial release. International users should keep an eye on official channels or Xiaomi’s Telegram for timely updates.

Usage Context and Technical Considerations

HyperOS 4 aims to enhance user experience with smoother performance and new features tailored to Xiaomi’s ecosystem. However, as a beta release, users should expect occasional glitches or compatibility issues. This update suits early adopters and tech enthusiasts comfortable with testing pre-release software. Mainstream users may prefer waiting for a stable global release to avoid potential disruptions.

Competitor Comparison: Xiaomi’s Software Evolution

Compared to competitors like OnePlus with OxygenOS or Samsung’s One UI, Xiaomi’s HyperOS is gaining momentum in delivering a refined Android experience. While OnePlus often focuses on clean, near-stock interfaces, and Samsung emphasizes feature-rich customization, Xiaomi’s HyperOS blends both approaches with tailored optimizations for its hardware lineup. The beta rollout is a strategic step to ensure HyperOS 4 meets user expectations in a competitive market.

  • Region: China-only beta rollout initially
  • Beta Application: Via Xiaomi Community app
  • Next Beta Waves: August 27 and September 17
