Dimensity 9600 Performance Leak

The Dimensity 9600 is reportedly MediaTek’s first 2nm chipset, featuring a 2+3+3 big-core CPU architecture designed to deliver single-core performance close to Apple’s chips. More notably, it is expected to surpass Apple chips in multi-core processing efficiency. The comparison does not specify whether it targets the upcoming Apple A20 Pro or the current A19 Pro.

Dimensity 9600’s larger Magin GPU promises improved graphics and ray tracing capabilities.

Improvements in Compute and Cache

Beyond CPU core design, the chip is said to double its capabilities in Compute Memory Engine (CME) and Shared Memory Engine (SME) compared to its predecessor, though cache size changes are expected to be minimal. Related coverage: New Lenovo Legion Phone Reveals Performance Gap to RedMagic 11 Pro.

Upgraded Magin GPU and Graphics Features

On the graphics front, the Dimensity 9600 reportedly includes a larger next-generation Magin GPU, outclassing competing 2nm chipsets. This GPU supports native frame interpolation and super-resolution, along with enhanced ray tracing and rendering efficiency, promising smoother visuals and improved gaming performance.

Expected Launch and Device Partners

Devices featuring the Dimensity 9600 are anticipated to launch in September, with the Vivo X500 Pro series likely among the first. The Oppo Find X10 Pro and Find X10 Pro Max are also rumored to pack this chipset, though their launch timing remains uncertain, possibly slipping into October.

September will be a busy month in mobile chipsets, as Qualcomm is expected to unveil its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro chips alongside Xiaomi’s 18 series devices.

The Dimensity 9600 leak highlights MediaTek’s push to compete closely with Apple’s silicon in key performance areas, especially multi-core processing, while advancing in graphics and AI capabilities.
