Xiaomi has expanded its home wellness ecosystem with the launch of the Mijia Sterilizing Foot Bath 2, a device designed to tackle the common hygiene and maintenance gripes associated with at-home hydrotherapy. By integrating UV-based pipe sanitation and a deeper basin, Xiaomi is positioning this model as a substantial upgrade for users who value both therapeutic comfort and simplified cleaning routines.
At the core of the device is a patented pipe sterilization system. Unlike standard foot spas that can harbor bacteria in their internal plumbing, this unit uses ultraviolet light positioned within the water pathways to sanitize circulation. Xiaomi claims this method achieves a 99.9% sterilization rate, ensuring that the water remains fresh throughout a session without exposing the user to direct UV light. The internal basin has also seen a 6.7% increase in height, reaching 382 mm, which allows for deeper immersion that covers the calves rather than just the soles.
Advanced Massage and Hydrotherapy Features
The massage experience has been overhauled to include a three-section system. It combines rolling kneading for the soles, targeted finger-pressure support for the arches, and a dedicated tapping function for the heels. All of these components are housed on a TPE silicone pad designed to contour to the natural shape of the human foot.
For those who prefer a more immersive experience, the device features a retractable rain-curtain spray. A centrifugal pump pressurizes the water to create a gentle cascade that hits the legs. Users can toggle this spray between three height levels, allowing for custom coverage ranging from above the water line to a surface-level massage.
Performance, Safety, and Availability
Heating is managed by a 950 W system utilizing NTC temperature control, which allows users to dial in water heat between 35°C and 48°C in precise 1°C increments. Safety remains a priority, with seven layers of protection, including water-electricity separation, dry-burn prevention, and over-temperature safeguards. Practical design touches, such as a hidden telescopic handle, omnidirectional wheels for easy movement, and a low-positioned drain, suggest that Xiaomi prioritized usability for long-term ownership.
Currently, the Mijia Sterilizing Foot Bath 2 is available for pre-order in China with an introductory price of approximately $61 (409 Yuan), rising to a retail price of around $75 (499 Yuan). A specialized herbal medicine pack is also available for roughly $9 (59 Yuan). While the official launch in China begins September 22, global availability and pricing have not yet been announced.
