Currently live on the Xiaomi Youpin crowdfunding platform with an introductory price of $357 (¥2,399), the ceiling-mounted appliance aims to eliminate cramped balcony setups by consolidating heavy-duty laundry drying and ambient ceiling lighting into a single, space-saving fixture.
Designed with a sleek 9cm-thick body, the appliance addresses two major pain points in compact modern apartments: limited hanging space for thick garments and bulky ceiling clutter. Rather than relying on separate light fixtures and temporary drying racks, Xiaomi integrates both systems into an automated overhead rig that retracts when not in use.
Heavy-Duty Lifting with a Flush 9cm Profile
Despite its minimal profile, the Mijia Smart Clothes Dryer 3 Max is engineered for heavy family workloads. Structural support comes from a high-torque DC motor paired with a 2.0mm thick steel wire rope, allowing the mechanism to safely hoist up to 45kg of wet laundry.
The main drying area features a 2.4-meter telescopic pole structure divided into five distinct operational zones. Xiaomi states that the arrangement can accommodate up to 80 individual garments or support two full-sized quilts simultaneously. When fully retracted into the ceiling recess, the entire framework folds into a flush 9cm chassis, preserving overhead headroom on residential balconies or utility rooms.
Integrated 42-Inch Illumination and Air Heating
The underside of the unit features a large 42-inch LED light panel that completely conceals the internal 770mm warm-air vent. The light panel delivers an Ra95 color rendering index for natural color accuracy alongside an RG0 safety certification, indicating zero blue light hazard for eye comfort.
Users can adjust color temperatures continuously between warm 2700K and daylight 5700K tones. Integrated motion sensors enable automated illumination when someone enters the balcony area.
