Xiaomi has expanded its smart home catalog with the launch of the Mijia Air Purifier 6C, retailing in China for approximately $165 (1,099 Yuan). Despite occupying a footprint of just 0.063 square meters, barely larger than a standard sheet of A4 paper, the appliance delivers a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 603 m³/h. That output comfortably eclipses larger predecessor units such as the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 (443 m³/h) and the Mijia Smart Air Purifier Pro (422 m³/h).
Engineered specifically for apartments and master bedrooms measuring up to 68 square meters, the unit moves up to 9,500 liters of fresh air per minute. Compact air purifiers frequently cut corners by combining or eliminating filter media, but Xiaomi has taken the opposite approach by stepping up to a comprehensive six-stage purification setup.
Six-Stage Purification in an Ultra-Compact Frame
The Mijia Air Purifier 6C upgrades the five-stage architecture of standard models by layering multiple physical and chemical filtration barriers. The sequence includes a primary pre-filter for coarse debris, an antibacterial layer, a specialized formaldehyde filter, a high-efficiency particulate filter, an activated carbon bed, and integrated ultraviolet (UV) sterilization.
Xiaomi rates the formaldehyde CADR at 381 m³/h, stating the filter captures 99% of airborne formaldehyde within two hours. For allergy sufferers and pet owners, the filtration system targets 99.99% of fine PM2.5 particulates, 98% of cedar pollen and dust mite allergens, and up to 99% of cat and dog dander. Meanwhile, the combination of dual antibacterial coatings and internal UV light is rated to neutralize 99.99% of H1N1 influenza viruses and eight common indoor bacterial strains within an hour of operation.
Smarter Monitoring with Practical Hardware Trade-Offs
A circular LCD on the front facade provides real-time ambient data, displaying live PM2.5 concentration, formaldehyde levels, indoor temperature, and relative humidity. However, cramming higher air throughput into a downsized housing introduces several design compromises that prospective buyers should weigh carefully.
First, acoustic performance takes a step backward compared to premium silent models. The Mijia 6C registers an operational noise floor of 30.4 dB(A) in its quietest mode, noticeably more audible than the whisper-quiet 14.6 dB(A) sleep mode found on the Mijia Smart Air Purifier Pro. Second, while the 6C measures ambient humidity, it lacks integrated evaporative humidification hardware entirely.
Smart home platform support has also narrowed. While international versions of earlier Xiaomi purifiers maintained cross-platform links with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, the Mijia 6C relies exclusively on Xiaomi's Mi Home and HyperOS ecosystem for automated routines and smartphone controls.
Pricing and Global Release Outlook
Xiaomi is currently offering the Mijia Air Purifier 6C for pre-order across domestic retail channels in China at an introductory price of $165 (1,099 Yuan). Global pricing and regional availability have not yet been announced. While international markets received the previous Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6, Xiaomi has not confirmed whether the 6C will see an official release outside mainland China.
